"Yanukovych is unshakeable. There will be no agreement with the EU," - Linkevičius
The firmness of the position of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych is the reason why the Association Agreement of Ukraine and the EU will not be signed.
As was informed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, Europe suggested many compromise options to Ukraine, but the position of Ukraine remained unchanged.
As reported by "Interfax-Ukraine", Linkevičius informed that "The result is that the Agreement will not be signed, as the position of Ukraine has not changed. We were ready to discuss this issue, whereby numerous options were discussed, but the President of Ukraine did not change his opinion".
The interlocutor commented on the further development of relations of Ukraine and the EU, as well as on the fate of the Association Agreement, as follows: "The ball is on the side of Ukraine; everything depends on them. Our suggestion remains valid, and we will come back to this question, as soon as the Ukrainian side is ready."
It is possible, that Ukraine may use the second chance and sign the Agreement in March during the summit Ukraine-the EU.
