Yatsenyuk has declared Ukraine bankrupt
According to the member of the opposition, the state treasury has not serviced the liabilities of the state and regional budgets for a total of 90 billion hryvnas. Yatsenyuk thinks that that is the sign of Ukraine being on the brink of default.
"We have the information that the state treasury of Ukraine has not serviced the liabilities of the state and regional budgets of Ukraine for a total of almost 90 billion hrn. The whole cities were brought to a stop. Only Donets region, the one which supported the president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the Party of Regions, has 1.5 billion hryvnas worth of unpaid bills. The government's attempt to postpone the default of the country via bond emission is nothing else but building a financial pyramid," said Yatsenyuk.
At a press-conference on October 4 the heads of the cities of Kharkov, Donetsk, Ternopol, and Ivano-Frankovsk regions and of the Crimean Autonomous Republic announced that the state treasury had blocked the municipal accounts. According to the mayors of the Ukrainian cities the total arrears of only the cities of Ukraine amount to more than 25 billion hryvnas.
