Russian Spring rallies with thousands participants will be held in the south-east of Ukraine on March 22-23
Russian Spring rallies of many thousands of people will be held in the south-east of Ukraine on March 22 - 23. Requirements of activists are the immediate referendum patterned after the one in the Crimea, release of detained and arrested activists, recognition of nationalist and paramilitary organizations as illegal. In particular, such rallies are expected to be held in the majority of cities and towns of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, in Kharkov, Zaporozhe, Kherson, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa.
Rallies of Russian Spring are held in the majority of cities and towns of south-east of Ukraine since the beginning of March. The wave of rallies does not slacken despite the numerous detentions and arrests of leaders and activists of the Russian Spring.
In particular, participants of the rally of many thousands of people under Russian flags stormed the City Council of Mriupol on March 18. Activists of the Russian Spring demanded the mayor of the city to hold an extraordinary session of the City Council and to consider the question of holding the referendum.
"We, native residents of Mariupol demand to hold the referendum on three questions: whether we should stay with Ukraine, whether we should become a federation in Ukraine; or whether we should become the part of the Russian Federation. We want to receive decent wages and economic stability in the south-east of the country. We are against of the armed coup d’état," the statement of activists says.
