The Crimea decided not to change the date of the referendum
The Head of the Supreme Council of the Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov stated at the briefing in Simferopol that leadership of the Crimea decided not to change the date of the referendum about the status of the autonomy, and to hold it, as it was planned earlier, on March 30.
"For now the dates will not change. We all agreed that it is very risky to hold the referendum earlier because of organizational problems. On March 30 we will be ready to hold the referendum in full volume and at a high level," the speaker emphasized.
According to Vladimir Konstantinov, in the framework of preparation for the referendum a number of organizational issues need to be solved, including, holding the information and explanation work about the meaning of the referendum among residents of the Crimea. "We need to hold at least two extraordinary plenary sessions, at which we need to approve the commission and the head of the commission for holding the referendum and its budget. Many things still need to be resolved, therefore, March 30 is a real date," the speaker of the Crimean parliament said.
Earlier because of the difficult socio-political situation in the Crimea it was decided to reschedule the referendum from May 25 to March 30. Yesterday, on March 4 during the press conference in Simferopol answering the question of the journalist about the possibility to hold the referendum earlier the head of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov replied: "Most likely, this will be the case. Now the working group completes the paper work."
