Bulatov boycotts the Paralympic Games in Sochi
According to the official statement published on the website of the Ministry for Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the new Minister for Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the former leader of Automaidan will not go to the Paralympic Games.
"I, as the Minister for Youth and Sports of Ukraine, officially inform about my decision to personally boycott the XI Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi in connection with aggression of the Russian Federation. Me personally, Paralympic athletes and the National Paralympic Committee hope that leadership of Russia will fully realize the measure of responsibility before the world community and will stop aggression against Ukraine," Dmitriy Bulatov stated. It is still unknown if Ukrainian athletes will participate in the competitions. 31 Paralympic athletes arrived in Sochi on March 1. Ukrainians are preparing to participate in skiing, biathlon and alpine skiing.
4 years ago Ukrainian team took the 5ер place in medal rating at the Paralympic Games in Vancouver. Out athletes won 5 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals.
