The session of the Military Committee under the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CSTO states will be held in Moscow
The press-service of CSTO informed ITAR-TASS that the next session of the Military Committee under the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CSTO member-states will be held on March 5 in Moscow.
It is planned to discuss "the status and development of the military and political situation, challenges and threats of military security in the regions of collective security," issues of development of military component of the Organization and holding the joint activities of operations and military training in 2014, as well as preparation for forthcoming meetings of statutory authorities of CSTO.
The meeting will be held under the guidance of the chairman of the Military Committee, the head of the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the first deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, the General of the Army Valeriy Gerasimov. The committee consists of the heads of General Staffs of the member-states of the CSTO.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is the political and military union created by several states of Eurasia (in different periods the organization united 6-9 states) on the basis of the Collective Security Treaty (CST), which was signed on May 15, 1992.
The CSTO consists of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
