Ukraine lost its discounts on Russian gas, as the country did not comply with the terms of its provision, said Russian President Vladimir Putin at the press conference on March 4 in the suburban residence of Novo-Ogarevo.
According to Putin, Ukraine's debt for gas supplies to Gazprom is already 1.5-1.6 billion dollars and would reach $2 billion if the February payment were not received.
“In these conditions, Gazprom says: if you do not pay anyway, let's fix (the debt - Ed.) using the normal price, not discounted,” said Putin, adding that the Russian government may provide credit to Ukraine to repay the gas debts.
