Russia will create the commission on monitoring the situation in Ukraine
Russia will create the commission on monitoring the situation in Ukraine under the international committee of the Council of the Federation. The corresponding decision was approved during the plenary session of the Council of the Federation on February 26.
Senator Vladimir Dolgikh initiated creation of the commission. He noted that the upper house of the parliament could not remain indifferent to what is happening in Ukraine and called on colleagues to assess the developments.
The speaker of the Council of the Federation Valentina Matvienko supported the proposal. In her turn, she proposed to include to the commission senators of those regions of the Russian Federation, which are located next to the Russian and Ukrainian border. "We must know what is happening on our borders," Valentina Matviyenko said.
