Jorrit Bergsma wins 10,000 meters, Olympic record
Dutchman was the fastest long-distance skater in Sochi. His time, 12 minutes 44.45 seconds, is a record in the history of the Olympic Winter Games.
Bergsma sensationally won over Sven Kramer, another great Dutch skater, who had to make do with the silver medal. Their compatriot Bob de Jong won the bronze. He lost to the leaders more than 22 seconds. It is the fourth skating pedestal lined up with the Dutch. This is also a record of the Olympics. Previously, athletes from one country swiped all the medals in speed skating only in two distances during the same Olympics. Previous record also belonged to the Netherlands national team.
