Yatsenyuk: opposition starts collecting signatures for unabridged version of Constitution-2004
The Batkivschyna faction headed by Arseniy Yatsenyuk calls on all opposition forces to join the campaign for adoption of the 2004 Constitution. Talking live on TV Channel 5, the politician appealed to opposition supporters to support the campaign by signing. The opposition needs 150 signatures, as required by the current Constitution.
“As the discussion has already started, I want to officially declare that the Batkivschyna faction appeals to our friends in opposition asking to collect, from tomorrow, 150 signatures as required by the current Constitution, to adopt the 2004 Constitution without any additions and amendments demanded by the Venice Commission. Afterwards we will rework, modify, hone the Ukrainian Constitution,” said Yatsenyuk.
He stressed that the Batkivschyna introduced to the 2004 Constitution the amendments in line with the requirements of the Venice Commission.
