4,000 shelter points operate in Ukraine
4,000 heating shelters have been opened throughout Ukraine due to deteriorating weather and temperature fall to below -20 degrees, reports the Government web portal citing Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vilkul.
“All field services work in emergency mode around the clock to assist citizens during severe frosts. Emergency mode has been initiated for rescue, utilities, road and other services that interact to effectively respond to winter weather and help people,” said the official.
In general, over the period of operation of stationary and mobile heating shelters, nearly 23,000 people received assistance.
There are also 1,153 social duty patrols in the regions staffed with rescuers, medical personnel and volunteers. So far, about 300 people rescued from hypothermia and delivered to heating shelters and hospitals.
