The “Right Sector” group takes responsibility for Kiev clashes
Radical organization "Right Sector" has claimed responsibility for the attack on the law enforcers’ cordon on the Hrushevskoho Street in Kiev. This is evidenced by writing on their pages on social networks.
Members of the "Right Sector" write that peaceful protests of Ukrainians led to nothing and now the struggle has reached a new level. "Death to the regime of internal occupation! Freedom or death! Glory to Ukraine!" says the group in their appeal to the nation.
According to the press service of the Interior Ministry, over 70 law enforcers injured, more than 40 - hospitalized after clashes on the Hrushevskoho St.
On January 19 at about 15.00, a few hundred demonstrators tried to break through a police cordon to the building of the Ukrainian parliament. The protesters planned to demand the cancellation of the laws adopted on January 16 and severely restricting the rights and freedoms of citizens. As a result of the conflict, several buses and trucks used by law enforcers have been burned. The demonstrators started throwing stones and firecrackers at law enforcement officers. In response, the police used stun grenades, water cannons and tear gas grenades.
