45 Ukrainian athletes set to go to Winter Olympics

Tentatively, on 22nd Winter Olympics in Sochi Ukraine will be represented by 45 athletes, reports the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports citing Ravil Safiullin, the Minister.

Ukrainian athletes will compete in 11 of the 15 sports: biathlon (most of Ukrainian athletes will compete in this sport), cross-country skiing, figure skating, luge, freestyle, alpine skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, Nordic combined, short -track and bobsled.

The Minister expressed the hope that, despite the setback on the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver (Canada), this time Ukrainian athletes would win at least two medals.

The state budget spent 108.7 million UAH from 2011 to 2013 to prepare our athletes for the Games.

The 11th Paralympic Winter Games will be joined by 31 Ukrainian athlete. Ukrainians will compete in three of the five sports: skiing, biathlon and alpine skiing.
