In Transcarpathia drunk driver crashed into a crowd of schoolboys
On Friday night, drunk 27-year-old driver of the "Volkswagen" car lost control of the vehicle and drove into a crowd of teenagers in the Brod village of Irshavsky district, Transcarpathian region.
The schoolboys, including seven high school students, stood beside the local disco bar. At this time, a 27-year-old resident of the neighbouring village was returning home from a visit while intoxicated.
Reaching the Brod village, the driver noticed a crowd of people on the roadside and slammed on the brakes, which resulted in car skidding. The car spun around and onto the crowd.
As a result of the collision, nine young people were hospitalized - three were put in intensive care and six - in the trauma ward. One of the injured in road accident is in critical condition.
Criminal proceedings on the case have been started under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code (“Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport persons to operate a vehicle”). The driver faces imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
