Vladimir Saldo - Rigid binding to standards of any union might be inefficient for Ukraine in the future
In the course of the public non-political discussion “Future economic development of Ukraine in the context of the integration processes” the people's deputy and member of parliamentary faction of the Party of Regions Vladimir Saldo said that rigid binding to standards of any union, be it the European or the Customs one, might be inefficient for Ukraine in the future.
As the people's deputy noted, currently the Ukrainians have ambivalent attitude. Some of them think that Ukraine needs to use only the European vector for its further development, while the others are for the eastern one only. However, from the practical standpoint none of these positions can be effective.
"It is better to develop the economy of Ukraine based on historically established traditions. And they do not exclude a very close proximity the people of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and the other countries, which are now part of the CIS. At the same time, of course, a rigid binding to standards of any union, be it the European or the Customs one, might be inefficient in the future," emphasized Vladimir Saldo, "Therefore, the point of view of the President, who must take all the opinions in the country in consideration, is exactly that: Ukraine needs to develop relations with the European Union, but at the same time preserve the historically established relations with the eastern neighbors."
