Mikhail Dobkin offers to transfer the capital to Kharkov
Mikhail Dobkin, chair of the Kharkov Regional State Administration, has once again surprised the readers of his Twitter page. “The poll: Kiev residents support action on the Maidan. This means that they support the breakdown, too. The capital should be moved to Kharkov, as was the case on December 19, 1919," wrote the Kharkov governor.
Kharkov is called the first capital because on December 19, 1919 the city was declared the capital of the newly formed Ukrainian Soviet Republic, in contrast with the then existing Ukrainian National Republic with capital in Kiev. In 1934, by the decision of Council of People's Commissars, the Ukrainian capital was moved from Kharkov to Kiev.
