The main musical institute of higher education of Ukraine celebrates 100th anniversary
Solemn events, devoted to the celebration of 100th anniversary of the National Music Academy of Ukraine Named after Chaikovskiy, will take place in the beginning of November.
On November 4 in the big hall of the Academy a grand meeting of the scientific council and the employees will be held, during which a special cancelation of festive a postage stamp will be conducted and a commemorative coin, manufactured for 100th anniversary of the educational institution, will be presented.
The following anniversary events will also take place: presentation of the publication 100 Years of the National Music Academy of Ukraine Named after Chaikovskiy, presentation of the film about the history of the Academy The Spirit of High Note, international scientific practical conference The Academy at the Turn of the Century.
The anniversary events will end on November 5 with a gala night and a concert in the National Opera of Ukraine Named after Shevchenko.
The National Music Academy of Ukraine Named after Chaikovskiy is the oldest leading musical higher education institution of Ukraine. The Academy became a legal successor of Kiev State Conservatory Named after Chaikovskiy, which had been founded in November of 1913 on the base of Kiev musical school. In 1995 according to the decree of the president of Ukraine, the educational institution received a national status. Today around 1200 students study in 6 faculties and 27 chairs of the Academy, the personnel of which is comprised of 9 Heroes of Ukraine, 4 academicians, 10 corresponding members of AGU, 50 People's Artists, 78 professors, 35 doctors of science, 106 docents, 89 PhDs, 30 Merited Art Workers, and 38 Honored Artists of Ukraine.
Since 1998 the Academy is a member of the European Association of Conservatories, Music Academies, and Higher Music Schools.
