Ukrainian writers will be awarded with a Polish prize
This year it will be a fourth time when the best writer by the measure of the Literary Award Named after Jozef Konrad-Korzeniowski will be selected in Ukraine. The main prize amounts to 3 thousand Euro.
The Literary Award Named after Jozef Konrad-Korzeniowski was established in 2007 by Polish Institute in Kiev in partnership with the National Center of Culture in Warsaw in order to support young Ukrainian writers. Every two years the prize is awarded to Ukrainian writer aged under 40 for a consistent realization of creative development, innovation in the form, breaking stereotypes, and universality of the message.
Besides the money the winner gets the opportunity of 6-months internship in Poland in the framework of scholarship program of the minister of culture and national heritage of the Republic of Poland GAUDE POLONIA.
This year the laureate is selected by the jury, which consists of the following representatives of the Ukrainian and Polish community: the director of Polish Institute in Kiev Yaroslaw Godun, professor of the National University Kiev-Mohyla Academy Vera Ageyeva, the head of the scholarship department of the National Center of Culture in Warsaw Bogumiła Berdychowska, the director of the Institute of Book in Cracow Gzhegozh Gauden, the director of the publishing house А-BА- BА-GА-LА-MА-GА Ivan Malkovich, the editor of TVi Vitaly Portnikov, and a writer Natalka Snyadanko.
The prize will be awarded on December 13 in Kiev; the receipt of the applications is closed in less than a week. Before November 10 everyone fascinated with the Ukrainian literature has a chance to suggest own candidate by filling in a special application form on the website of the Polish Institute in Kiev, in which it is necessary to name the writer and substantiate his worthiness of the prize.
