New Vilnius has been announced for Ukraine
The European officials hope that the association agreement will be signed at bilateral summit that could take place in the spring of 2014.
Ukraine and the EU have agreed to conduct bilateral association negotiations without the participation of Russia, as reported the European Commissioner Stefan Fule during the press-conference after the meeting with the Ukrainian delegation headed by the first vice-premier Sergey Arbuzov.
Fule has mentioned that as Ukraine and the EU will get closer, "the European support will grow more and more", reports ITAR-TASS. The European Commissioner reported that Kiev and the EU "had not discussed concrete numbers of the compensations of the EU for the association". According to him, for overcoming the financial crisis Ukraine has to work with the IMF only. Fule has emphasized that the EU intend to "consider the possibilities of maximizing the possible aid from the side of the IMF" and declined talking about concrete numbers.
The European Commissioner has also reported that Ukraine and the EU have come to the agreement on the further steps "which will lead to signing and implementation of the association agreement", reports Interfax.
The meeting of the European delegation and the EU officials took place on Thursday, December 12, 2013 in Brussels. The European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule supervises the issues of the European integration of the former USSR countries.
