Holland will not give asylum to the Russian gays
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Frans Timmermans said that since the representatives of LBGT are not discriminated against in Russia, they have no grounds being granted asylum in the Netherlands by this trait.
According to the head of Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he did not mean Russia in particular when talking about granting asylum in Holland. "At the moment the people with non-traditional sexual orientation are not being persecuted in Russia; therefore, there are no grounds for granting asylum in the Netherlands. I am very sorry that there was an impression that the reply referred to Russia, but I was not referring to her," said Timmermans.
It has been reported earlier that the organizational committee of Eurovision found the Russian law on prohibition of gay propaganda disturbing.
