Zakharchenko: Maidan was unblocked in accordance with court decision
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Minister of the Internal Affairs Vitaly Zakharchenko said that the streets were unblocked to fulfill the resolution of the administrative court regarding the prohibition of blocking transport communications.
"The transport collapse have been observed in the heart of Kiev for several days already. The magnitude of the traffic jams on the roads reached the maximum level: 10 points. The authorities of the internal affairs receive numerous complaints, mostly from the residents of the central part of the capital, about the impossibility of driving to their own homes and lack of proper rest at night," the Minister said.
"I want to reassure everyone that the dispersal of Maidan will not happen. No one will encroach on the right of the citizens for peaceful protest. However, we cannot ignore the rights and legitimate interests of other citizens. The regular functioning of the capital should not be affected," said the Minister.
He also noted, "It is necessary that the municipal transport as well as emergency services operate smoothly: lifeguards, ambulances, utility services."
"The streets were unblocked to fulfill the resolution of the administrative court regarding the prohibition of blocking transport communications," Zakharchenko stated.
"The task of the police is to ensure the protection of the public order during the execution of the decision of the court," Zakharchenko summarized.
Let us remind that at 1:00 a.m. Berkut began to clean Euromaidan from barricades. Maidan Nezalejnosti was surrounded by the soldiers. The protesters, in particular self-defense teams, were trying to resist them. In Kiev the traffic police blocked the driveways to the center of the city.
