The Deputies of Prykarpattia voted for the liquidation of the Regional State Administration
On December 10, 2013, during the extraordinary session 58 Deputies of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council impeached the credibility of the Regional State Administration, concluded that "the existence of such an institution is inappropriate" and decided to liquidate it.
As the chairman of the Regional Council Vasily Skripnichuk said, since "neither the President, nor the Government, nor the Parliament wanted to listen to the people as well as to the deputies of the local councils, they ignored all appeals", "the time of pleas, appeals and statements passed".
Therefore, "taking into consideration the political and socio-economic situation in the state and in the region, in spite of the requirements of the rallies, in which many thousands of people participated, which were held in the settlements of the region," for the failure in signing the association agreement with the EU and for the illegal use of brutal physical force towards peaceful protesters in Kiev, the deputies of Prykarpattia decided to liquidate the Regional State Administration in Prykarpattia, by withdrawing the authority delegated to it.
According to this decision, the executive committee should be created in the structure of the executive authority of the regional council starting with January 1, 2014.
The district councils of the region were recommended to make similar decisions.
The reporter of the Radio Freedom informed that it was not so easy to conduct the extraordinary session of the regional council in an open air near the administrative building. At first only 56 out of 114 Deputies came. Until three more Deputies arrived, a popular assembly was taking place in front of the administration. Afterwards, the session had the quorum.
