A large gambling ring was discovered in Kharkov region
Kharkov law enforcers exposed organizers of major gambling ring. According to the General Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Kharkov region, officers of Economic Crime Prevention Squad uncovered illegal activities of more than 25 gambling establishments. The organizers of the shadowy gambling were detained. The officers seized more than 250 slot machines, 40 computer systems and some cash — $45,000 and 200,000 hryvnias.
The illegal business was organized by a 46-year-old man from Kharkov. He monitored the operation of the establishments and distributed the received funds. He was assisted by three men aged 30 to 58 years, who were responsible for selecting the premises and equipment, negotiating with landlords and other issues.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Kharkov region opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 203-2 (gambling activity) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Further pretrial investigation is currently being run by the Investigation Department of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Kharkov region.
