The opposition introduced a bill on liquidation of Berkut to the parliament
The bill also stipulates depriving the soldiers and officers of the special service units of their special and military ranks.
Today during the briefing the leader of Batkivschina faction Arseny Yatseniuk has said that the opposition registered a bill on liquidation of Berkut special service unit.
Yatseniuk mentioned that the bill also stipulates depriving the soldiers and officers of the special service units of their special and military ranks. "The law "On Militia" does not provide for any savage ranks," he emphasized.
The Party of Regions is against liquidation of the special service units. Similar structures exist in all the countries of the world. Having lost the fast response units, Ukraine will become unprotected.
"To disband is the easiest solution. Not to use these special service units when it is not necessary is a totally different matter," said the Party of Regions deputy Alexander Yefremov during the briefing.
He has emphasized that any country with self-respect has special service units, trained to work in extreme conditions, when the decisions are made within a second or two. "Any country spends enormous funds to find these people and train them. And, from my point of view, it would be a populism to say, "Let's disband all of them," but then tomorrow we will be stripped in the face of a real terrorist danger in our country," he said.
