Berkut fighters used force to disperse the participants of Euromaidan
Today around 4 am.m Berkut fighters used force to disperse the Euro-activists at Maidan Nezalejnosti. The people were pushed out of the square, 35 participants of the rally were detained, some were injured. The law enforcers used rubber batons and flash-bang grenades to dissipate the participants of the rally.
According to the witnesses, the forced dissipation of Euromaidan started after a conflict, which began when the opposition’s vehicle with sound equipment was stopped by the police. Then after several incidents between the law enforcers and the Euro-activists at the square, Berkut began to dissipate the participants of the rally using brute force. As a result several activists sustained injuries of various degrees of severity.
Those injured during night dissipation were admitted to the emergency hospital of the capital. Also 35 detained activists of Euromaidan were delivered to Shevchenkovsky regional police department. According to the law enforcers, the decision to dissipate the rally was made due to increasingly frequent offenses at Maidan. Moreover, the participants of the rally were throwing stones in Berkut officers.
