Ukraine and the EU will be connected with a living chain
On November 29 (the main day of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius) the Ukrainian activists will organize the living chain from Kiev to the Polish border. To create a living chain, which will be more than 600 kilometers in length, participation of more than half a million people is needed. The volunteers are invited in the social networks of the Internet.
According to ZAXID.NET, one of the organizers of the activity Alexandr Pakhalchuk has said that the participants will start to form the living chain on November 29 at 12 p.m. in Kiev, on the European Square. From the capital it will go through Lvov and further to the border of Ukraine and Poland. The route from Lvov to the Polish border is still to be confirmed; the organizers plan to finish the living chain in Peremishl.
The organizers say that those participants who have visas will form the chain on the territory of Poland. In 1990, when Ukrainians formed the Chain of Unity, there were no social networks and mobile phones, which theses days helped to organize the activity better.
According to Alexandr Pakhalchuk, the organizers calculated that to create such a living chain about half a million people were needed. "The approximate length of the route is 625 km. The average distance between people, when they are holding hands, is about 1.2-1.3 meters, which means that to create a living chain 522,000 people are needed," he said.
"The preparation is in active process, we continue the search for people, who would become the main coordinators. We already have them in Lvov, Rovno, and Kiev, but we still need the coordinators in Zhitomir, Dubno and in Novgorod-Volinsk. We inform about this via all available mass media," the organizer of the chain stated. One can join the activity on the page created in the social network Vkontakte.
Just to remind that "the signing ceremony" of the Association Agreement with the EU is scheduled in Vilnius, on November 29, at 9:00 a.m.
