Federation Council to install flags of Crimea and Sevastopol
On Monday, March 24, at the upper house of Russia’s Duma will hold a ceremony of adding the new flags of the Russian Federation — the Crimea and Sevastopol standards.
According to the press service of the Federation Council, installation of the official symbols of the two regions will be held in the gallery of flags of the RF subjects. Valentina Matvienko, speaker of the Duma’s upper house, will head the ceremony.
Flags of the Republic of Crimea and federal-level city of Sevastopol will be installed by Alexander Chekalin, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security, Hero of Russia, and Artur Chilingarov, member of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Russia.
On Friday, March 21, extraordinary meeting of Federation Council ratified the agreement on Crimea’s secession to Russia and formation of the new subjects within the Russian Federation. Earlier, the State Duma approved the document.
