Yatsenyuk orders not to hurry with visa system for Russians
It is unreasonable to hurry with the introduction of a visa regime for Russians, says Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk. “In this case, you have to look before you leap,” he stressed.
According to the Prime Minister, “hardly this kind of initiative on the part of Ukraine will be effective in terms of impact on the Russian Federation. But the problem is important for humanitarian dimension within Ukraine, as a large number of Ukraine citizens, primarily in the East and South of the country, are interested in maintaining the visa-free regime — they go to Russia to work or have family relations across the border.”
According to Yatsenyuk, yesterday, March 19, he left early the meeting of National Security Council and could not prevent the adoption of this decision, so he intends putting forth his suggestions after returning to Ukraine from Brussels.
Yesterday’s session of Ukraine’s Security Council instructed the Foreign Ministry to introduce a visa regime with Russia.
