Today Crimea starts receiving Dnieper water

Today, on March 19, experts in Tavriysk, Kherson region, will open the North Crimean Canal for water from Dnieper River for 56th time, reports the press service of the State Water Resources Agency of Ukraine.

Transfer of Dnieper water from Kahovka reservoir to the North Crimean Canal will be carried out as planned, for irrigation and filling of water reservoirs that are used for drinking water supply.

The 400.5 km long North Crimean Canal was built in 1961-1971 for irrigation of arid regions of the Crimea with Dnieper water and pumping water into Crimean reservoirs.
