In Ukraine, 41 settlement cut off electricity
As of 7am on March 18, severe weather conditions in Ukraine resulted in 41 settlements being cut off electricity, reports the press office of the State Emergency Service.
In particular, strong gusts of wind and rain broke electricity lines to 32 settlements in the Kiev region, and nine in the Cherkassy region.
Over the past 24 hours, specialists of regional energy services restored power supply in 23 towns in the Vinnitsa region, 12 — in the Zhitomir, Lviv and Chernovtsy regions, 13 — in the Kherson region, 5 — in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and 4 — in the Kirovograd region.
Wind gusts in the night of March 16 to 17 triggered off automatic protection for power lines, leading to a blackout in seven regions of Ukraine (88 settlements).
