Mikhail Romaniv wrote the resignation on his first working day. The resignation was written under the pressure of fighters of the Right Sector.
The new head of Chernovtsy Regional State Administration (OGA) Mikhail Romaniv, who was assigned by the acting President Oleksandr Turchynov, wrote the resignation on his first working day. On Monday, March 17 fighters of the Right Sector came to the building of the OGA. They organized a questioning of Romaniv, blamed him for membership in SDPU(o), "liking for Yanukovych" and forced him to write the resignation. Questioning of the governor was carried out in the presence of the press, and was broadcast on the local TV channel.
The local press states that political games of the new authorities became the reason for resignation. Romaniv was recommended and supported by the local office of the party Udar. However, the local office of the party of Arseniy Yatsenyk Front for Change had another candidate for this post.
Mikhail Romaniv already made a statement that his resignation was the manifestation of absence of power in Ukraine in regions that undermined the authority of the country.
It should be noted that now heads of OGA are appointed till presidential elections in Ukraine that is only for 2 months.
Mikhail Romaniv previously was the head of the region in 2003 - 2005. At the same time he was the chair of the regional committee of SDPU(o). Since October 2007 Mikhail Romaniv occupied the post of the head of the Main Directorate of the Pension Board in Chernovtsy region, and in a year he was elected the head of the regional office of the People's Party, which is headed by him till now.
