First Presidential candidate registered in Ukraine
The Central Election Commission has registered former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin as a Presidential candidate. He submitted all the registration documents, including the collateral, cash payment of UAH 2.5 million.
During his work in the Prosecutor General office, Renat Kuzmin was supervising the cases of Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuriy Lutsenko. He also filed a criminal case against former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma on abuse of power and official authority.
Early Presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for May 25; the campaign was launched on February 25. Deadline for registration of Presidential candidates is April 4.
