Supreme Council of Crimea approves referendum results
At 10 am, the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea began its extraordinary session. On the agenda — approval of the results of Crimea-wide referendum held on the status of autonomy on March 16.
Referendum turnout broke all possible records, at 83.1% of the total electorate.
According to preliminary data, about 97.8% of the voters favor reunification of Crimea with Russia.
On March 1, Crimean parliament adopted by 78 votes out of 81 a resolution for joining the Russian Federation and initiated a referendum so that every resident of the Crimea could express their opinion on the matter.
