Ukraine says EU "NO!"
610 million euros, IMF planned to highlight for Ukraine, could not affect the signing of an association agreement. The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, being interviewed by journalists of the main Ukrainian channels, called the IMF proposal "humiliating". The organization filed its own terms: to raise tariffs for the population, freeze wages and reduce budget expenditures. Yanukovych said “that won’t do”. The President called Ukraine "a serious European country", whose interests must be taken into account.
Three years ago, in November 2010, Ukraine welcomed the willingness of the EU to provide it with 610 million euros as a compensation for the fulfillment of the EU conditions.
