“Right Sector” fighters walk free after shooting in central Kiev
Masked gunmen started shooting in the centre of Kiev. On Friday around 13:00, the police received a call that on the Tolstoy St. an unknown armed group seized a private office. The assailants beat up several passers-by.
According to “Interfax — Ukraina” news agency, about 13.30 on Friday metropolitan police received a call stating that a group of masked men beats up several passers-by near office premises at 23/1 Tolstoy St. Then the attackers barricaded themselves in the basement of the building. Witnesses also report hearing gunshots.
According to 112.ua website, allegedly “Right Sector” militants have seized the office. “A group of armed men beat up several passers-by, opened fire and then barricaded themselves in the basement of a house,” the site writes.
The Korrespondent.net website informs of a group of five militants. The agency reports Ukrainian riot police has arrived to the scene. “Now the unknown are on the street, negotiations are being carried out, but the militants have no intention of handing over the weapons,” says the city police.
After lengthy negotiations and talks with the Maidan, police released attackers with weapons, reports Korrespondent.net.
