Vitaly Churkin: reports of involvement of Parubiy with Kiev snipers should be investigated
"Reports about firing at demonstrators and law enforcers during mass disorders in Kiev was done from the office of the commandant of Maidan Andrey Parubiy, need careful investigation," the permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin stated on Thursday at the meeting of the UN Security Council.
Insisting on the need for a thorough investigation of acts of violence committed in Kiev, the representative of Russia in the UN noted: "The picture of Kiev and western propaganda is completely overthrown by information about the fact that representatives of forces of order, as well as protesters were shot at by the same provocateurs." Further Vitaly Churkin pointed to the fact that according to the last disclosed information, fire was done from the headquarters of the so-called "commandant of Maidan" Andrey Parubiy, who now heads the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine.
The former head of the Security Service of Ukraine Alexandr Yakimenko stated that Andrey Parubiy could be involved in shooting down protesters and policemen in Kiev in the interview to the TV channel Russia-24.
Last week the record of the telephone conversation of the head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Estonia Urmas Paet and the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton appeared in the Internet, in the course of which conclusions of Ukrainian medics, who conducted autopsies of bodies of the killed people in Kiev on Independence Square, were discussed. According to the Estonian Minister, "all the evidence shows that killed by snipers people on both sides - the police and the people in the street - were killed by the same snipers." Urmas Paet also mentioned the spread opinion that "not Yanukovych, but someone from the new coalition stands behind snipers." Ashton replied that phrase by the words: "Interesting. Then it should be investigated."
