Turchinov: Ukraine will not begin military operation in the Crimea
Ukraine will not begin military action in the Crimea. The acting President Alexandr Turchinov stated that Kiev was not going to bring troops to the peninsula because the boundaries of Ukraine were not protected.
In his interview to the French agency France-Press Turchinov also expressed his dissatisfaction with the preparing referendum about the status of the Crimea and complained that Russia refuses to negotiate with him.
"We cannot begin the military operation in the Crimea, because by doing it, we will expose the eastern border to a risk and Ukraine will remain defenseless," Turchinov informed.
The Russian Federation does not recognize Turchinov to be a legitimate President of the country. According to the legal norms the legitimate President remains Viktor Yanukovнch.
