Chubarov thinks Crimean deputies went bonkers

Refat Chubarov, Leader of Majlis (organisation of the Crimean Tatars) believes his colleagues in Autonomy’s parliament “are puppets in somebody’s hands”.

Chubarov wrote this on his Facebook page, reacting strongly to the fact that the Supreme Council of Crimea has decided the republic should join the Russian Federation and transferred Crimea-wide referendum on the status and powers of the Autonomy from the end of the month to March 16.

“Those of my colleagues – deputies of the Crimean’s parliament who voted are simply bonkers! Plainly, they follow the will of others... Mind has left them!” said flatly Majlis leader, himself a deputy of the Supreme Council from the party “People's Movement of Ukraine”.

Today, the Supreme Council of the ARC voted Crimea to become part of the Russian Federation, also moving Crimea-wide referendum on the status and powers of the Autonomy to March 16 due to current socio-political situation in the republic. 78 of the 81 deputies present at the session supported decision.
