Discount on Russian gas for Ukraine is no more — Putin
Ukraine lost its discounts on Russian gas, as the country did not comply with the terms of its provision, said Russian President Vladimir Putin at the press conference on March 4 in the suburban residence of Novo-Ogarevo.
According to Putin, Ukraine’s debt for gas supplies to Gazprom is already 1.5-1.6 billion dollars and would reach $2 billion if the February payment were not received.
“In these conditions, Gazprom says: if you do not pay anyway, let’s fix (the debt — Ed.) using the normal price, not discounted,” said Putin, adding that the Russian government may provide credit to Ukraine to repay the gas debts.
