Aksenov: Ukrainian military men are guaranteed personal safety
The chairman of the Council of Ministers of Autonomous Republic of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov stated during the press-conference in Simferopol that authorities of the Crimea call on military men of military units of Armed Forces of Ukraine to take the side of inhabitants of the autonomy. Officers and other ranks, who do not wish to do it, may safely return home, however, criminal cases will be opened against commanders and instigators.
"We hold negotiations with leaders of military units, who should fulfill a clear order: to pass to control of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea. Those who do not want to take an oath to the autonomy may write a dismissal notice and leave the base. Their authorized state benefits and payments will remain in force, and will be paid in full volume," the prime minister of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea noted.
He appealed to soldiers and explained that they took an oath to "another country", not to the one that exists today, where central authority is captured and self-appointed authorities emerged, as well as laws are adopted with violations of the necessary procedures.
"We have seen, what happens when the army starts to fight with people. Soldiers, I ask you: hear the voice of reason, hear residents of the Crimea, do not resist and obey legitimate orders of the government of the Crimea. Personal safety is guaranteed to you, no one will be offended, there will be no political persecution," Aksenov emphasized.
However, he warned: commanders, who will incite soldiers not to fulfill orders of the government, will be brought to criminal responsibility.
