Oscar Ceremony kicks off with Ukraine
Jared Leto, winner of the Best Supporting Actor category, used his speech at the Oscar award ceremony to address the members of mass protests in Ukraine and Venezuela with words of support, Buzzfeed reports. “Dreamers around the world who are watching this ceremony, in such places as Ukraine and Venezuela, I want to say: we are here, but as you struggle to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible, we’re thinking of you tonight,” said Leto.
Later, the actor, who also performs in a popular rock band “30 Seconds to Mars”, said that soon he plans to give concerts in Ukraine and Venezuela; therefore, he decided to pay homage to these two countries in his address.
According to the star, protests are important for us as well, and it is important to address those things.
