The King of Belgium Philippe signed the law about euthanasia of minors
The King of Belgium Philippe signed the law, according to which euthanasia of minors, who are hopelessly sick, if their pain is excruciating and there is no way of its relief.
According to ITAR-TASS, the monarch signed the law, despite the fact that the Spanish fund Citizen Go gathered and sent to his address signatures of more than 200,000 citizens from 20 countries of the world, including signatures of 5,000 Belgians. These people in their petition asked the King Philippe not to sign the controversial document. In their opinion, this is "the most horrible law about euthanasia in the whole world."
On February 13, after voting in the lower house, the parliament of Belgium passed a bill about euthanasia for hopelessly sick minors. 86 members of the House of Representatives voted for the bill, and 44 were against, 12 deputies abstained.
According to the law, hopelessly sick under age patients may ask about euthanasia in case if their pain is excruciating and there are no ways of its relief, and their illness, according to forecasts of doctors, will lead to fatal outcome in the nearest time. It may be approved by an attending medical doctor with the written consent of their parents.
