The very first monument to Taras Shevchenko will be shown in Kharkov
The exhibition of one monument A Visit to the Homeland is opening on March 4 (at 6:00 p.m.) in the cultural and business center Rubanenko and Partners.
The event is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. The central exhibit of the exhibition will be the bust of Kobzar, which was created by the sculptor Vladimir Beklemishev. It is the first monument to Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine and in Europe. It was established by the banker and sponsor Aleksey Alchevskiy in Kharkov in 1900. After the tragic death of the banker the bust was dismantled.
Now this sculpture is located in the collection of the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kiev. It will be demonstrated in Kharkov till the end of March.
In addition to the monument visitors of the exhibition will be able to see pieces of art on Shevchenko themes and get to know the historical materials
