Europe recommends keeping away from Crimea
Several European countries advise their citizens to refrain from travelling to the Crimea.
In particular, the United Kingdom has asked to cancel all trips to the peninsula, asking those British citizens who are currently there to leave the peninsula. The UK Foreign Ministry emphasised the danger of being in the Simferopol airport, surrounded by the armed men.
The German government also strongly recommends refraining from non-urgent visits to the Crimea.
The Italian Foreign Ministry said that trip to the peninsula should be postponed “until the normalisation of the situation”. Italians are also advised not to walk on the streets of Kiev in the evening and night and avoid any demonstrations in the capital.
