OSCE will send its special envoys to the Crimea
The Chair of OSCE and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter is seriously concerned about current events in the Crimea and announced the visit of his personal envoy Tim Guldimann and the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Astrid Thors in the nearest days.
"I call on all parties to take all necessary measures, in order to avoid further escalation of tension and to refrain from acts of violence," he said.
According to him, the OSCE will send its special envoys to the Crimea in the nearest days, in order to use their skills and experience to influence the situation.
The Supreme Council of the Crimea at the extraordinary session on Thursday appointed the referendum regarding the expansion of powers of the region on May 25, dismissed Anatoly Mogilev and elected Sergey Aksenov the Prime Minister of the autonomy.
The central election committee has already reported that there are no grounds for the referendum.
