Crimea is waiting for referendum
On February 27, extraordinary session of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea adopted a resolution “On organisation and implementation of the (local) referendum on the issues of improving the status and powers of the ARC”.
According to Olga Sulnikova, head of information & analytical department at the Secretariat of the Crimea Supreme Council, the latter decided to hold the republican referendum on May 25, 2014.
The referendum will have a single question: “Autonomous Republic of Crimea has a state independence and is part of Ukraine on the basis of the pact and agreements”. The possible answers are “For” and “Against”.
The resolution charges the Presidium of the Supreme Council with drafting and approving the organisation and conduct of the republican referendum, as well as with making the necessary decisions for organising the referendum. The Council of Ministers of Crimea is tasked with providing financial, material, technical and other support to the organisation of the referendum.
