Leonid Slutsky: We will consider affiliating the Crimea to Russia after the referendum
The Russian side will consider question of Crimea’s affiliation to Russia if it will reflect the majority opinion of Crimeans, said Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, on a visit to the Crimea.
“With regard to affiliating Crimea to Russia — if this will be the position of the referendum or the Supreme Council of Crimea, we will study the situation, and we will study it rather fast. If Crimeans announce their decision, we could work together to find common sense and practical steps to implement it,” said Leonid Slutsky.
The representative of the State Duma of the Russian Federation also noted that his faction, LDPR, prepared the corresponding bill on simplified citizenship for Ukrainian citizens.
