Interior Ministry shuffle listed on Avakov Facebook page
Acting Interior Minister Arsen Avakov announced the beginning of “the process of profound staff changes” in the Interior Ministry.
“The mechanism of staff changes in the leadership of the Interior Ministry has been initiated. The situation is extremely complicated and ambiguous, requires immediate assessment and solutions, as well as a balanced approach. This is not lustration, but it is a start of the process of deep personnel changes,” wrote Avakov on his Facebook page.
According to him, there will be an official investigation into the misconduct, abuse of authority and position by the top management of Interior Ministry Administration and regional divisions, which led to obstruction of the citizens' right to peaceful assembly, offense against their lives and health.
“Execution of the order and the progress of the investigation are under my personal control,” writes Avakov.
He also reported that on February 24, three department heads of the Interior Ministry were dismissed: Public Security (Alexei Krikun), National Security (Alexandr Tulaev) and Traffic Police (Vladimir Astapkovich).
Four heads of regional departments of Interior Ministry have also been dismissed: in Dnipropetrovsk, Transcarpathian, Cherkasy regions and in Kiev.
The positions were immediately given to officers proposed by Avakov.
