Stepan Kubiv appointed a new chair of Ukraine’s National Bank
Ukraine’s parliament terminated the appointment of the National Bank chair Igor Sorokin due to his resignation application and appointed to this position Stepan Kubiv, People’s Deputy from the “Batkivschyna” faction.
312 lawmakers supported the corresponding decision.
According to the Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Aleksandr Turchynov, currently the country’s economy is in a “very difficult situation”, so the National Bank cannot remain without a head.
Stepan Kubiv was one of the first field commanders of the Maidan.
