Ukraine mints commemorative coins “Korsun-Shevchenko battle”
Today, the National Bank of Ukraine introduced into circulation commemorative coins “Korsun-Shevchenko battle”, reports the press service of the Bank.
The UAH 20 coin is made of silver, 925 hallmark stamp, weight — 62.2 g, diameter — 50 mm. Circulation — 2,500. The UAH 5 coin is made of nickel silver, weight — 16.54 g, diameter — 35 mm. Circulation — 30,000.
The cost of silver commemorative coins (with a case) is UAH 945, nickel-silver coins — UAH 25.
Commemorative coins are minted for the 70th anniversary of Ukraine’s liberation from Nazi invaders.
The coins were created by painters and sculptors Vladimir Taran, Alexander Kharuk, Sergei Kharuk, Natalia Fandikova, Vladimir Atamanchuk, Anatoly Demyanenko.
Korsun-Shevchenko offensive operation lasted from January 24 to February 17, 1944 and is a canonical sample of how to encircle and completely destroy a large group of enemy forces.
